Looking to have the most epic study abroad experience imaginable? You’ve come to the right place.
There are a lot of other companies offering outstanding weekend trips to cities throughout Europe.
However, as we noticed when studying abroad, there is a distinct lack of options for those looking to really get off the beaten path and embark on some epic, outdoor adventures. Though it is, of course, possible to plan a trip like this on your own, it’s very difficult to organize one that is affordable and accessible to a full-time student.
That’s where we come in.
We partner with amazing adventure companies around Europe and beyond to design fully customized trips that fit within a students budget and school schedule.
Each of the tours we promote are locally led and personally vetted to ensure that they are fun, unique, and ethically responsible. We also donate £1 from each booking to a local, environmental charity to help preserve the natural beauty of the places we visit.
Hey there 🙂 My name is Kara Myers and I established Grassroute Adventures for students like me.
- Students who are eager for active, offbeat adventures.
- Students who don’t usually like traditional group tours.
- Students who care about the impact they have on the places they visit.
Nearly a decade ago, I decided to study abroad in Florence for a year with Gonzaga University. Over the course of 8 months, I travelled to 12 different countries, slept in countless airports and train stations, and truly learned what it meant to love and hate RyanAir in equal measure.
For the most part, I travelled with friends. However, I also went on trips that were organized by student tour companies or my university. Though I enjoyed myself on these tours, I often wished I could get a bit further off the beaten path.
And so I did.
A few weeks after graduating, I traveled back to Europe on a one-way ticket and have been on the hunt for epic adventures ever since.
I’ve walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain, hitchhiked my way across Ireland, learned to surf in Brazil, and completed the Annapurna Circuit in Nepal.
Now my passion lies in helping today’s study abroaders embark on their own epic adventures. The tours that we promote promise to push your boundaries, broaden your perspective, take you off the beaten path, and hopefully inspire a lifelong case of wanderlust
