Bologna's Street Art: The Most Instagrammable Places in Bologna! Discover the best photo ops in this beautiful Italian city.

1. Finestrella.

I first saw a picture of this beautiful peak-a-boo window that opened up to a colorful canal on Pinterest. Initially, I assumed it was taken in Venice, but when I scrolled through the comments, I realized it was actually in Bologna! So obviously, when I started planning my trip to the city, this spot was the first on my list!

The colors of the canal are so stunning and look incredible when contrasted against the blood red orange color of the window itself. Definitely a must-see for any photographer. Learn more about how to find it in my post How to Find Bologna’s Hidden Canals.

2. The city’s archways at sunset.

A lot of the buildings in Bologna are very grand and have beautiful archways. At sunset, the light cuts through the pillars and creates these dramatic shadows that are fantastic to photograph. There are so many of these around the city that I really can’t recommend one walkway in particular. Just stroll around as it gets nearer to sunset and see which place most entices you!

3. The top of the Asinelli Tower.

The Asinelli Tower is the taller of the two towers that make up Le Due Torri, located in the center of the city. It’s a long way up to the top (498 steps to be exact!) but the views from up above are superb. You really get a sense of the size of the city, as well as all of its colors!

My favorite shot was one I took looking straight down at Garisenda, the smaller tower. Fun fact: though it doesn’t get nearly as much attention for its tilt, Garisenda actually leans much more than the Leaning Tower of Pisa!

4. Bologna’s street art.

Bologna is one of the hippest cities in Italy. The University of Bologna, which is the secondMost Instagrammable Place in Bolona oldest university in the world, attracts young students from all around the world and they certainly make their presence known. There are several boutique shops, a thriving music and nightlife scene, and fantastic street art that will likely rival NYC and London in a few years time. Most of the good stuff is just outside the city center, but there are a few incredible pieces just within the perimeter as well. Plus, at the rate that new art seems to pop up, there will probably be even more hidden gems when you visit!

5. Bologna’s sidewalks.

Not all sidewalks are created equal. Though there are a fair share of boring grey walkways, there are just as many coloful stone footpaths to photograph. I took this photo on my walk home from Finistrella so keep your eyes peeled if you’re in the area, but I saw so many other beautiful sidewalks that I wanted to photograph as well!
